Serving pizza can be a complex, multi-tool task, requiring something with a sharp edge to cut, a cutting ‘board’ or similar flat surface, a flat pie-server-like something, and negotiating skills to resolve arguments about the size, shape, and number of pieces … at a minimum. And if you involve small children (or too many people who still act like small children), then the sharp cutting edge can be dangerous in under-skilled hands, or worse, if it becomes part of those final negotiations!
Leave it to the folks at Dreamfarm - in Brisbane, Australia - to resolve most, if not all, of these issues! First, you have to listen carefully - applying your best attempt to sound like an Aussie (if you are, then please accept my apologies for attempting to be an interpreter for the Rest of the World!) to the name of this product (go ahead: say it aloud!). It’s a SCIssors for piZZA! And suddenly, it’s all quite simple!
The Scizza applies the familiar functionality of scissors to the task of perfectly cutting pizza, into the desired number of pieces, in the desired shape(s), and then lifting and serving each piece. The spring-loaded lockable handle keeps your cutting hand (operating from either left or right) away from the hot food, as well as assuring safe storage: no more loose blades in your dishwasher or kitchen tool drawer! The lower handle is well-sized and shaped to comfortably fit 4 fingers, to assure control in both cutting and serving.
The Scizza’s scissoring action combines a single, slightly curved German stainless steel top blade that cuts down, in order to minimize disturbing the toppings, with a bottom cutting-edge blade mounted into a non-stick flat spatula-like surface, to slide under, lift, and serve the pieces. All combined in a simple, yet very clever, design that is heat-resistant to 400F/205C and dishwasher safe. Disagreements and small children are up to you! Definitely a Cool Tool!
