Everyone needs cutting boards…not only to protect your counters, but also your knives. And there are so many different cutting boards out there: From beautiful big heavy wooden ones to bendable dishwasher safe ones, each has its uses, advantages, and disadvantages. One of our new favorites is the duo from Dreamfarm, the Australian company that reimagines basic tools to solve problems (our kind of philosophy!)
The Set of “Fledge” (Flip edge) cutting boards consists of two 1/2” thick cutting boards (Large: 13.5”/34.3cm X 9.5”/24.1cm, and Small: 9.5”/24.1cm X 6.5”/16.5cm) and a stand (with a reusable sticky bottom to hold it steady on your counter.) Aside from these two sizes being pretty-much perfect for most every day cutting needs, Fledge boards have unique flip up edges that prevent cut food from falling or rolling off the sides, both when transporting smaller pieces to a pot, bowl or table for serving or when you're just cutting things with a tendency to roll (eg, green onions in either case!). Both cutting boards also have non-slip rubber feet on both sides and a generous juice groove for carving on the underside.
The Set of 2 Fledge boards comes in either gray polypropylene or bamboo, both with black edges; both choices “are designed to be dishwasher safe.” The USFDA says: “Bamboo cutting boards are harder and less porous than hardwoods. Bamboo absorbs very little moisture and resists scarring from knives, so they are more resistant to bacteria than other woods.”
