Cool Tip: Steamed Asparagus Doesn't get any Easier than This...

We got this recipe from an episode of Alton Brown‘s Good Eats and was amazed at how well it worked...it’s so easy, it almost feels like cheating. No more tying bundles of asparagus or looking for an asparagus steamer--this just works!

Snap the bottoms off a pound of asparagus.
Sprinkle ¼ cup water onto four paper towels.
Lay the asparagus on the paper towels and sprinkle with about ½ teaspoon kosher salt.
Then roll the asparagus up in the damp paper towel and place it, seam side down, on the turntable in the microwave oven.
Cook on high until just crisp tender. Depending on the power of your microwave oven and the size of your asparagus, this could take anywhere from 90 seconds to 4 minutes.
Remove from the microwave oven with
tongs and unwrap carefully.
Arrange on a serving platter, dress with your choice of sauces, and Enjoy!
