Cool Tip: The Gift Closet
- Jun 23, 2015
As the Holidays come to a close and you begin the inevitable cleanup from the flurry of the season, don’t forget your Gift Closet. It can be a closet, or a drawer, or simply the corner of a shelf somewhere. It has a critical role throughout the year, but this seems to be the time of year when it needs your particular attention.
Throughout the year, this stockpile of last-minute gifts provides the resources to cement your reputation as a welcome guest, or a thoughtful friend or relative, with appropriate gifts for holidays, birthdays, weddings, or any other special occasion, like a dinner party, or a visit with old friends. The important principle is … Be Prepared!
This time of year probably finds your Gift Closet seriously depleted, and it’s time to recharge! Think about your needs - the people, the occasions - and then shop accordingly. Checkout the post-holidays sales, and of course The Gift Guide at Colbrook Kitchen!
When you find something special for a particular person, put their name on a Post-It on that item to remind you each time you go to the Gift Closet … sometimes we’ve forgotten and that special gift lies around for a year or three, but eventually it gets to its intended recipient, and with a story about how long ago we thought of them!
Finally, the post-Holidays cleanup also presents the opportunity to plan for “re-gifting” those gifts you may have received that you didn’t quite love ...remember that one person’s ugly lampshade is another person’s treasure ;-).
Have a happy healthy and prosperous New Year!
